I am a photographer who is inspired by people and their surroundings. I grew up near Lake Michigan in Holland Michigan and water has always been a part of my life. I have found that it is something that really makes me tick. I went to college in Newport, Ri. at Salve Regina University right on the Atlantic Ocean. My surroundings helped me get through the tough days and come out of school with a desire to be inspired by what's around me. My studies included a year in London with some intense photographic courses and independant studies at Salve which helped me to explore my own visions. I have recently spent four years working with Billy Black, a marine photographer, constantly on the water. We traveled a lot and met lots of people who also enjoyed being on or near the water. My next adventure is a road trip around the USA studying people in their own environments to see how they are inspired. I left Rhode Island in January on a photographic trip around the USA. My plan is to head south first then west , then north, and then east. There are multiple goals to this trip, but one of the most important goals is to explore the United States with a fresh and honest approach. Using photography I'd like to record a portrait of America that is colorful and honest. I'm looking for inspiration through people who do something that they truly enjoy and who have a positive impact on their communities. Some of these people might be craftsmen, storytellers, families, artists, teachers, or anyone else who has an activity that makes them happy and leaves an impression on the people around them. As I travel I hope to find opportunities to show the American Landscape and its people in the best light possible.
